Blue-Cloud Technical partners at work: First Technical Committee Meeting in Amsterdam

Blue-Cloud Event
22 January 2020 13:00 – 23 January 2020 17:00
Amsterdam, The Netherlands

The first Blue-Cloud Technical Committee Meeting (TCom) is held at the Hortus Botanicus, from 22nd to 23rd of January 2020 in Amsterdam.

The Blue-Cloud Technical Committee brings together the leaders of the Blue-Cloud technical development tasks, including experts in data management, standards, data services and cloud computing and the leaders of the Blue-Cloud Demonstrators, key leaders in the Blue scientific area. The meeting represents a key milestone for the future developments of the Blue-Cloud framework.

While the first day meeting focused on analysing the access mechanisms enabling the creation of the Blue-Cloud data discovery and access service (e.g. discussions about the types of data, the metadata and data formats, the use of vocabularies, the possible restrictions, and the existing web services from the blue data infrastructures part of Blue-Cloud, such as SeaDataNet, EurOBIS, Euro-Argo, EMODnet, ENA-ELIXIR, EuroBioImaging and ICOS-Marine), on the second day the attention is put on gathering inputs on the future Blue-Cloud technical architecture and its links with EOSC. This analysis will be fundamental to start the actual Blue-Cloud developments.

Key for this process will be the presence of the five Blue-Cloud demonstrator representatives who will be describing the requirements collected from their communities, covering specific domains like biodiversity and genomics, environment, fisheries and aquaculture.
