During the 2nd International Ocean Governance Forum, which will virtually take place from 14th to 16th December, the European Commission and the European External Action Service will discuss about the current ocean challenges, actions and potential solutions.

The European Commission has actively worked on potential solutions to critical ocean issues in the context of international governance already from the spring of 2020, in particular through a webinar series which took place between April and July and an online consultation which happened from July to October 2020.

Agenda:

On 14 December, a series of presentations regarding the developments in international ocean governance and on European policy priorities will be at the centre of the dialogues.

On 15-16 December, international working groups to better shape and address future solutions will be organised.

More information are available on the official website.

The IOG Forum supports the further development of the EU policy on international ocean governance: an agenda for the future of our oceansThe IOG agenda brings 50 cross-cutting actions to ensure clean, healthy, safe, secure and sustainably used oceans. It is an integral part of the EU Green Deal and the EU’s response to the 2030 Agenda, in particular, the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 14 Life Below Water.

To maintain momentum for international ocean governance, the IOG-Forum Thematic Working Groups (TWGs) were launched via online webinars between the 22nd and 24th of April.
