The European Maritime Day (EMD) Conference is the annual two-day event during which members of the European maritime community meet to network, discuss and forge joint action on maritime affairs and sustainable blue economy

EMD Conference is the place where ‘Ocean Leaders Meet’. It provides an interactive experience to catch up on the current state of play on a broad range of issues concerning the blue economy and the marine environment and discuss ways of moving forward. It features a large number of excellent speakers, multiple breakout sessions and project pitch sessions organised by stakeholders and European Commission services as well as hundreds of B2B meetings. EMD targets professionals from businesses, governments, public institutions, NGOs and academia.

European Maritime Day 2021 is going hybrid with a mix of digital and physical formats on 20-21 May in Den Helder in The Netherlands and online. It is co-organised with the City of Den Helder, the Province of Noord-Holland and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management.

This is one in a series of many events related to a sustainable blue economy promoted by the European Commission, as the marine research community enters the Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. Blue-Cloud is contributing to the enhancement of digital tools for the marine community, demonstrating its potential through five real-life demonstrators tackling key challenges for biodiversity, environmental monitoring, fisheries and aquaculture.
